Mary Moses’s Hat-Trick Secures Rivers Angels Victory Over Delta Queens

Rivers Angels dominated Delta Queens 3-0 in the South-South derby, with Mary Moses scoring a stunning hat-trick. The matchday 12 fixture lived up to expectations, showcasing the artistry of both teams at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

From the opening whistle, Rivers Angels pressed hard, and their efforts paid off in the 16th minute when Mary Moses capitalized on Polinus Ifeoma’s precise freekick. 

The Jewels of Rivers  goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi made a crucial save in the 29th minute, denying Destiny Itobo a scoring opportunity.

Mary Moses was unstoppable, tormenting the Delta Queens defense. She doubled her tally from the penalty spot in the 70th minute after Idike Chika’s foul on her , She  sealed her hat-trick three minutes later with a clinical finish courtesy of Blessing Ifetizue’s assist.

Tosan Blankson praised his players for their dominant display, attributing their success to his  cash promise of N100,000 if they beat Delta Queens.

 “It wasn’t easy to psyche the players up after the defeat in Lagos,” he said. “They gave their all, got the chances, and converted.”

Blankson commended Mary Moses for her commitment and dedication, saying, “She is a player ready to work, and any player that is ready to work will always succeed.”

 Mary Moses’ hat-trick took her tally to 10, making her a joint top scorer in the league.

Ahead of matchweek 13 against Bayelsa Queens, Blankson downplayed the significance of the match, saying,

 “To me, it’s not a big one. We’ve already qualified for the Super Six, so we’ll take it one match at a time.” 

Rivers Angels will face Bayelsa Queens in Yenagoa next Wednesday.
