Lobi Stars defeated Nasarawa United 3-1 in a North Central derby friendly played at Lafia City Stadium earlier today to step up preparation ahead of the second round resumption of the 2023/ 2024 Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL)season.
The tie which featured prominently invited players was to assess them in a match situation.
The Yes Father Boys who adopted the Lafia City Stadium went ahead when Victor John found the back of Nasarawa United’s net with a long-range effort in the 25th minute to set a tune for an interesting encounter.
The Pride of Benue continued to press as they kept the pressure on their illustrious host when they kept asking the questions and not long before Victor John again hit a 30-yard freekick which found the back of Nasarawa United’s net to increase Lobi Stars’ tally in the final moments of the first half.
On resumption, Nasarawa United who are playing in the second tier of the Nigeria League came out blazing as they made a couple of changes and not long, Orya Joseph was made to deny Chinedu Ohanachom from hitting the target when he comfortably kept the striker’s headed at bay.
Nasarawa United however got a lifeline when Adamu Hassan got to the end of Segun Ajiboye’s low cross to chip the ball over Orya Joseph to reduce the deficit but it was Ocheme Edoh who put the game to rest when his right-footed volley found the back of the net leaving Nasarawa United’s Godwin Ameh in a no man’s land to wrap of the game.
The tie created an avenue to see some of the players invited during the tie as the club set to sort out some of the grey areas identified during the first stanza.
The Shoe Get Size Boys are set to return to league action when they visit Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium in matchday20 fixtures of the NPFL.
