Gombe United Unveils Bala Nikyu, Targets NPFL Return

Gombe United has announced a significant shakeup in its coaching staff with the reappointment of Coach Bala Nikyu as the Technical Adviser and the promotion of Abdullahi Haruna, popularly known as Alampase, as the club’s new Chief Coach. The changes were formalized with a signing of contract and unveiling, signaling the club’s intent to make a swift return to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Coach Bala Nikyu, who worked in the latter half of last season, has signed a one-year contract to lead the team. His primary objective will be to guide Gombe United back to the NPFL, a goal that the club’s management believes is within reach under his experienced leadership.

The signing ceremony, which included the official unveiling of Coach Nikyu, was presided over by Gombe United’s General Manager, Abubakar Abubakar. The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi, who was represented by Gombe State FA Chairman, Mr. Yakubu Sarma who is also the Senior Special Adviser on General Duties to the Gombe State Governor.

During the unveiling, General Manager Abubakar Abubakar expressed profound gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his unwavering support of the club. He also acknowledged the vital backing of the Secretary to the State Government, emphasizing its importance as the team embarks on its quest to return to Nigeria’s top football division.

“The decision to bring Coach Nikyu to lead the team is driven by his impressive track record. We firmly believe that with his experience and dedication, he will guide Gombe United back to the top tier of Nigerian football,” Abubakar stated. He also called on fans and stakeholders to rally behind the team during this new chapter in the club’s history.

Representing the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Yakubu Sarma urged the club’s management to learn from past mistakes and work diligently towards achieving greater success.

Coach Bala Nikyu, now officially at the helm, expressed his commitment to the task ahead. “I am here to work, and I will do whatever it takes to make Gombe United succeed. Together with the team, we will strive to achieve our goals and make our fans proud,” he affirmed.
