It was a memorable event at the Nasarawa State Government House when the Chairman of, the Nasarawa State Football Association Salisu Galadima led his entourage for the official unveiling of the 2024 Edition of the Governor’s Cup.
While Addressing His Excellency, Alhaji Salisu Usman Galadima revealed that Nasarawa United’s return to the elite league was not without the crucial role he played first with the financial incentives he handed the team.
“Your Excellency, the FA sincerely appreciate you for giving us an audience despite your busy schedule”.
“Your commitment to sports development is greatly appreciated. The qualification of Nasarawa United back to the NPFL shows how much you love and support sports in the state'”.
The chairman went on to seek support for the Governor’s Cup to kick-start the properly.
In his reaction, Engr. Abdullahi Sule hailed the Nasarawa State FA for the birth of an initiative aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence amongst youths in Nasarawa State.
“Today indeed is one of those days that we are happy that one of us has designed a programme that will make us continue to live in harmony in Nasarawa State”.
“Sports unites people of different diversities and now in Nasarawa State we have come up with an event that will bring out some of the best talents that are hidden within the state”.
“This has really excited me because we have created a platform to support the breakout of the next generation of stars, he concluded”.
The thirteen local governments in Nasarawa State will partake in this year’s Governor’s Cup with each getting 23 sets of jerseys while 100 balls have already been procured for the execution of the event proper.
Top NFF officials led by its President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau will be on ground for the opening and closing ceremony as the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule is expected to pick the date for the finals.
Top of the event was the unveiling of the jerseys for all the teams, trophies for the winner, and first and second runner’s up respectively with some individual prices.
