9JA TEQBALL CHALLENGERS SERIES: PLATEAU STATE EMERGES AS THE OVERALL WINNER

Plateau State Teqball Team emerged the champions of the maiden edition of the 9ja Teqball Challenger Series held in Jos the Plateau State from the 25th – 28th November 2024.

The Plateau State Teqball Team clinches gold in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and a bronze in the Men’s Singles event making a total of 5 medals to top the medals chart.

The Nigeria number one Teqball player who represented Plateau State Victor Oyemade won gold in the Men’s Single, Men’s Doubles alongside team-mate Yahyah Khalid and Mixed Doubles alongside Ondo State fast-raising Teqball player Omolade while Yahayah Khalid won silver in the Men’s Singles event.

Plateau State has once again proven that they are a force to reckon with when it comes to Teqball in Nigeria. It will be the first time in the history of Teqball that any state will host and win a Teqball championship in Nigeria.

Speaking with our correspondent at the closing ceremony, the chairman of the Plateau State Teqball Association Chief Miri Timnan Nyantau thanked the sports loving governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for accepting to sponsor and host the Teqball event.

“Let me first and foremost thank His excellency for sponsoring the event and also the executive board of the Nigeria Teqball Federation highly present here for this opportunity to bring the championship to the Plateau and as you all have seen; we are a good hot” Chief Miri stated

“I am sure you all will go back to your various states with a different gospel about Plateau State, Plateau is peaceful and a very good tourism destination, our weather is European standard, our foods are top-notch, our people are loving and above all, we are now blessed with a governor who is people oriented which is clear to even the blind to see” Chief Miri added.

Ten states participated in the four days championship with over sixty athletes.
