The City Of Keffi in Nasarawa State was agog when the Second edition of the Si14 Foundation Table Tennis Championships climaxed at the popular Muhammadu Chindo Yamusa Square Keffi.
Iya Idris Dogara (Gangaren Ward) came first after defeating Mohammed Sani in the final, Pepe however came third from the 10 participants.Speaking after the tournament, CF Montreal forward Sunusi Ibrahim who is the CEO of the foundation revealed the real reason he chose to sponsor the event.
“Aside football, I have an immeasurable passion for the game of Table Tennis and knowing fully well that the good people of Keffi LGA love the game, I chose to set aside a tournament that will better foster friendship and also promote unity within the locality”.
“It is not only football that can be used as a tool to promote peace, other games like table tennis can also serve an equal purpose, so I will make the tournament an annual one and sooner or later we can start unearthing talents from the event that will end up representing the country at large, the Nigerian International concluded.
Iya Idris Dogara smiled home with the sum of ₦50,000 while Mohammed Sani who came second, got the sum of ₦40,000, Pepe got ₦30,000 for coming third while ₦20,000 was given to the fourth placed ward. Participants (Wards) that fell outside the top four got the sum of ₦5000 each.
Keffi LG Chairman, Hon. Idris Ahmed Damagani led other dignitaries to the event as Sunusi Ibrahim was on hand to cheer all the participants.
