FWC Champions FC kicked off their 2025 Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign with a solid 1–0 victory over Derby FC in their opening fixture on Thursday, April 24.
The lone goal of the game came in the first half from Ushie Emmanuel, who calmly converted after a well-worked team move on free kick to give FWC the lead — a lead they held onto with discipline and composure through the final whistle.
The team’s structure, focus, and tactical discipline were evident throughout the match, with credit going to the technical crew for their effective game plan and the players for their execution.
Speaking after the match, Head Coach Bunmi Haruna praised the effort:
“A great start to the season. The boys showed character, and we’ll build on this. Now the attention shifts to the next challenge.”
