The Nasarawa State Commissioner For Justice and Attorney-General disclosed that the ongoing Nasarawa State Governor’s Cup has clearly shown that the Nasarawa State people are peaceful.
Labaran Shuaibu Magaji who was at the Lafia City Stadium to see Keffi take on Toto made this known during a brief interaction with the media at the Nasarawa State Football Association Board room.
“My ultimate interest is the joy and happiness introduced by this tournament. This tournament symbolizes many things that we have been battling in Nasarawa State”.
“This tournament symbolizes unity. This tournament makes us understand we are one single entity and a big family in Nasarawa State”.
“This is one thing that has been introduced since after the election of 2023 that Nasarawa State is not as divided as what people thought”.
“This is the only tournament that does not understand s specific language, this is the only tournament that has no religion, this is the tournament that has no local government neither does it have any sort of nepotism or gender”.
“This is a tournament that Unites the whole Nasarawa State to celebrate, to feel grief for the loss. So over and above, my ultimate interest is that this is a contribution from the Nasarawa State Football Association, a very huge one that unites Nasarawa State”.
“In this tournament, they are not professing Religion or tribe, and neither are they professing any difference. The only thing they are professing is the spirit of coming together as a team irrespective of where you are coming from for the sole aim of winning as a team”.
“Today we witnessed Toto Local Government and Keffi Local Government”
.When asked who he would love to win the 2024 edition of the tournament, the soft-spoken legal luminary however said he hoped his zone would pick all the accolades.
“At the risk of sounding biased which probably your suspicion might be is to see that this tournament ends up with the Western Zone emerging in First, second and third place which is very possible and I want to assure you that with what we’ve seen today, it’s a clear demonstration of competence, expertise and the fairness with which the managers of the tournament are going about the tournament, I think we’re heading towards a very successful ending”
.On how to improve the tournament, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji harped on more publicity so that more sons and daughters of the state would key into the initiative.
“Moving forward, I think there should be more publicity to what is going on today because if there is more publicity, of course, what we are witnessing today will be robust and very inclusive. Everybody should be able to depend on the incentive that will be placed”.
“Everybody should be able to afford to leave what he’s doing. My office is one of the busiest in this State and for me to spare 2 hours to be here that underscores the importance we have attached to this”.
“So I want to thank you and congratulate the FA Chairman, Salisu Galadima for introducing this tournament. It is not an easy thing to come by, it is also not easy to bring all these local governments together”.
“So we must equally thank the Governor, His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi A Sule for allowing this tournament to take place under this very moment we are not taking that for granted and this has underscored the support and interest he has for youth development in the state”.
“The youth on the other hand have no reason other than to support him, his program, and policies. I want to thank the Nasarawa Football Association for the doggedness and consideration to provide something that would bring unity among the people of Nasarawa State, he rounded up”.
