In its effort to return the club to the NPFL, the Gombe State government has announced the appointment of a new management team to be led by Anas Bamusa as the General Manager, Abubakar M. Maina as secretary while Ishaya Usman will take on the role of Team Manager.
These appointments have been met with enthusiasm from Gombe United fans who faced the agony of watching their club drop down to the lower division, the NNL last season. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, expressed his confidence in the new leadership. “We expect the new appointees to bring innovative ideas and leadership, as well as work in synergy with stakeholders to support the government’s agenda in the sports sector,” Governor Yahaya said.
Anas Bamusa, a seasoned football administrator, expressed his gratitude for the appointment and outlined his vision for the club. “I am honoured to be given this opportunity to serve Gombe United,” he said. “My goal is to create a culture of excellence that will resonate with our players, coaching staff, and fans. We will strive to elevate Gombe United to new heights and make the state proud.”
Ishaya Usman, a former referee and Team Manager of El-Shama FC, with a wealth of experience, emphasized his commitment to developing the team. “I am excited to take on this new role,” he said. “I will work tirelessly to ensure that Gombe United returns to where it belongs in the Nigerian football landscape. Our aim is to achieve success both on and off the field.”
