Doma United FC is gearing up for a major restructuring as the club prepares for the upcoming season with a clear goal of returning to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by Chairman Suleiman Umar, the club confirmed that efforts are underway to appoint a new management team, technical crew, and backroom staff who share the club’s ambitions.
“The club is actively working behind the scenes to appoint a new management team, technical crew, and backroom staff who share our vision and are fully aligned with the club’s goals,” Umar stated. “We are committed to ensuring that the new team will bring fresh energy and expertise as we strive to return to the NPFL next season.”
The club also announced that training for the upcoming season will officially resume on August 24, 2024. The statement indicated that retained players from the previous season would be contacted soon to clarify their status within the squad. However, Doma United is also focusing on bolstering the team with top-quality talent.
“We will focus on recruiting only top-quality players who meet our high standards and fit into our long-term plans,” the statement read.
In a shift from the usual open trials, the club emphasized that screening for potential new players will be conducted strictly by invitation. “We urge interested players to await further communication from the club,” Umar added.
The chairman reiterated that the club’s primary objective remains to secure a return to the NPFL and restore Doma United FC’s standing in Nigerian football. “Our objective remains clear: to return to the NPFL and restore Doma United FC to its rightful place in Nigerian football,” he concluded.
