The Chairman of the House Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Ekene Adams Abubakar, has raised concerns over the irregularities going on in all the age-grade teams of the country.

With less than a month to the WAFU B U17 qualifiers slated for Ghana, Nigeria reappointed Manu Garba to tinker the team to the tournament which is to serve as the qualifiers both to the u17 nations cup and the world cup.

With countries like Benin, Burkina Faso, CIV and Togo U17 teams already in camp for months, many Nigerians not excluding Hon. Ekene Adams were not happy with the timing, something the honorable believes racketeering to favor some particular people was responsible for the delay.

In his words on a popular WhatsApp platform, FCT Sports Update, he said

“Our national teams, such as under 15, 16, 20, can only do well. Only, if we stop racketeering, everyone is an agent from the coaches to the administrators. And we want to be better than Senegal, Morocco, and the rest of the African countries. We know where the problem is, but we are not doing the right thing”.

The last two major tournaments the Nigeria u17 and U20 teams partook ended woefully as the u17 couldn’t qualify to the last u17 world cup while the u20 could not navigate an All African Games group comprising of Uganda, Sudan and Senegal.
