Surrounding yourself with tested and trusted advisers is crucial. Consider appointing individuals you have previously worked with and excelled alongside. Their familiarity and expertise will undoubtedly enhance your decision-making process.
Additionally, reflect on past events and mistakes, using them as valuable learning experiences. This introspection will enable you to make informed decisions, driving positive change across various sports disciplines.
Your appointment presents an opportunity to bring much-needed development to the sports sector.
I encourage you to leverage your experience as Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC) and former consultant for the Nigerian House of Representatives on Sports committee to propel growth.
At a glance, I have included the key areas to focus on include:
- Sports Infrastructure Development: Investing in modern facilities to enhance athlete performance and spectator experience, this is key. A case in point is having the Godswill Akpabio Stadium the only standard stadium that passed the CAF inspection for international football. That’s not so good for the status of our country, as well as other sports, not only football now.
- Grassroots Development: Initiatives promoting youth participation and talent identification.
- Governance and Transparency: Ensuring accountability and fairness in sports administration.
