Lot of prizes were won by participants at Dr Dozie’s Super Kitty held at the Lafia Golf, Lafia earlier in the week with Bernard Attah winning the best gross, Umar Haruna clinching best net of of 66, in the women category Ruth Marem won with the best gross while Dorcas Malle went home with a gross of 67, Tony Effa won the gross of 97, will Sangarin Dedere, Balarebe Sa’eed Muhammad got the gross of 69.
Speaking at the event, Nasarawa State government says it reconsidering the need for the sitting of a Five Star Hotel at the Premises of Lafia Golf Club to the tourism potential and enhance the internally generated revenue of the State
This was made known by the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sport, Barrister Isaac Danlandi, during Dr. Dozie’s Super Kitty, put together Dr. Chidozie Valentine Adiukwu, a member of Lafia Golf Club currently working as a medical Consultant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Barister Danladi said Lafia Golf Club has the potential of increasing the internally generated revenue of Nasarawa inline with governor sule’s drive to industrializ and diversity the economy of the State.
“The government of Engr. AA Sule place high primium on sport and that is why you can see Nasarawa United is why you can see Nasarawa United, Nasarawa Amazon and sporting activities are doing well in the State”
According to the Permanent Secretary, the government is resting on it effort in ensuring that Nasarawa is has crime and criminality is brought to the lowest minimum by providing adequate security and sustaing peace in the State for all business and lessure to thrive in the State which Golf is at it the Centre.
On his part, the Captain of Lafia Golf Club, Mlanga Anyone John, represented by his deputy Akin Ogidi, said the club is consolidating and surpassing the years, reemphasizing the need to work towards turning the brown course to green, challenging the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport to draw the attention of government in that regards, promising to synergies with the government in every possible way.
“So that when they are looking for where to host PGA in your in Africa or Nigeria they will think of Lafia because of what we can offer”
He however appreciated Dr Chidozie Adiukwu for not forgetting the Club always thinking of Lafia Golf Club even when he is far away Saudi Arabia and for his commitment to the club morally, financially and otherwise.
Speaking to Journalist the Dr Chidozie Adiukwu, said that every moment he has spent playing Golf in Lafia has been rewarding and promising to support the club in any capacity within his means, while thanking members of Lafia Golf Club, the golfing communities, friends and dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Lafia has formed a part of me , I felt I should give back, as my friends decided they should honour me and this has created a template for golfers for golfers from far and wide to able to come to Lafia and celebrate with me”
Golfers across the Nigeria participated and played at the Golfing event, with dignitaries from all walks of life.
