Nasarawa United began the 2024/2025 NPFL season in an abysmal manner when the team under it’s previous manager ended the first round of the season in the murky waters of relegation.
The position of the team necessitated the management and Coach Kabiru Dogo to reach an agreement to mutually terminate the contract binding both bodies together.
Anas Yusuf became the only positive thing coming from the team judging on his exploits in front of goal, scoring 80% of the team’s goals while the team conceded 22 goals in the process.
Ex Nigeria Junior International, Detan Ogundare became available after leading Enugu Rangers to the 2023/2024 league title with a total of 35 appearances and having analyzed the team’s weaknesses, Goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa MON pounced on the opportunity of getting the ex Kogi United and Shooting Stars goalkeeper.
A move that will later be beneficial not just to Detan Ogundare who has over the years battled for full fitness amidst other concerns but Nasarawa United too.
Detan Ogundare has however managed to be the unsung hero for the Solid Miners after keeping seven clean sheets (The most in the second round) in 15 appearances for Nasarawa United.
“I want to make a statement, I really need to play games because for a long time time I have not been active competitively”
“I had many offers the moment I left Enugu Rangers but I wanted a challenge different from the usual and Nasarawa United FC felt like a perfect fit for me to fight and show the world that I still remain one of the best Goalkeeper in the NPFL, Detan Ogundare revealed”.
Detan Ogundare has been instrumental to Nasarawa United’s second round form with his breathtaking saves making the team go 13 games with only one defeat as the fans of the club keeps singing his praises.
With three games left to round up the season, Nasarawa United are currently on 13th on the log hoping to finish higher before MD38.
From Akwanga to Keffi, Awe to Wamba, Karu to Nasarawa, Toto down to Doma will only have one name added to Anas Yusuf’s name when Nasarawa United eventually beats the drop, the name will be Detan Ogundare the flying cat who is changing the narratives here in Nasarawa State.
