His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule has shared his thoughts over the role that sports plays in promoting peace in Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.

Engr. Abdullahi Sule who was ably represented by Dr Adamu Ibrahim Alhassan Permanent Secretary Nasarawa State Ministry For Youths and Sports Development at the opening ceremony of the Nasarawa State FA Cup said that the Nasarawa State government are interested in the youth as sports is been championed by them.

“We’ve told the teams at the beginning of this tournament that we want to see their skill set and sportsmanship, also we’ve spoken to the fans to avoid any form of hooliganism to ensure we have a very healthy competition and so far from the first game, we’ve recorded that and we are very happy with what we have seen”.

“Going forward, we hope that this spirit will go on till the end of the tournament and an eventual winner will emerge”.

“Like we always say in a competition like this, everybody is a winner it’s just that at the end of the day one person must outrightly stand out but overall everybody wins”.

“For us in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we are really passionate about what our youth are engaged in.

The government is very interested in the youth and also interested in sports and of course sports is championed by the youths and I can assure you that the ministry of youth and sports as well as the government are solidly behind the Nasarawa State FA, because we know that this is one opportunity for grassroots football development and we’re sure that a lot of talents will be realized from here and infused into the state teams which is good for the state and country at large, he concluded”.

Si14 FC defeated City Rollers FC in a penalty shootout after the game had ended one all in regulation time.
